TRIP FAQS
How do I participate in a ZCI mission trip?
Thank you for your interest! Please contact us at info@zioncareinternational.org confirming your interest or complete this brief survey.
Is there any other way to participate in a ZCI mission trip without physically being there?
Yes. Your donation of supplies, services, and additional support would be appreciated. Please use the Paypal link or contact us at info@zioncareinternational.org
Do I have to arrange anything for a ZCI trip? For example, food, housing, or transportation?
No. ZCI provides all arrangements for its medical volunteers, including transportation, food, government permits and in-country housing. Equipment, supplies and medicines are secured for the overseas medical clinics from donations through partnerships with other organizations. Once your application has been approved you will be given a comprehensive welcome packet that contains a packing list specific to the location you will be visiting and the time of year.
Medical volunteers are asked to bring their own diagnostics for use during clinic (otoscope, ophthalmoscope, stethoscope, sphygmomanometer, knee hammer, thermometer, scissors, etc.).
Dentists will need to bring any instruments necessary to conduct dental care in the field. You will be given a sample list of items that previous dentists have found helpful to have.
If I am not medical or dental, what will I do when I get there?
Dependent on location. However, some additional responsibilities include
- Clinic set up and breakdown
- Community health education — we provide you with a variety of topics or you can choose your own topic to teach a class to the local communities that will help build and strengthen the people through health and wellness.
- Helping in the pharmacy
- Patient registration and intake
- Patient escort services
How can my short term mission trip make a lasting impact?
You are providing individuals with a service that they would not be able to have access to otherwise. You have multiple opportunities to connect with local people on an individual level and assist them in their physical, health, and spiritual development. By teaching individuals on how to maintain healthy lifestyles, participating in service projects that effectively build communities, and the other trip activities aforementioned, you are personally participating in the enduring transformation of entire communities. You can also choose to attend future mission trips with ZCI.
What is the minimum age to attend a ZCI mission trip?
18 years old.
Do I need a passport and visa to travel?
It depends on the country of citizenship. ZCI will advise.
Is it safe to travel to the ZCI mission destinations?
ZCI can not guarantee your safety in any country, state, or province that you happen to visit. However, every precaution is taken to ensure that we have adequate security on all ZCI sites. Volunteers are advised not to leave the medical site or hotel without advising the Group Coordinator and Security attache.
Will we be working with other groups?
Yes, your group could spend part or all of its itinerary with other groups we partner with including the Ministry of Health, the Rotary Club, and other service clubs. This can be a rewarding experience to spend time with fellow Christians on the field.
